(Spots fill up fast; consider RSVPing at least one month in advance. Our current client is Tempo From YC)

Week 1: Kickoff PRD's, roadmap's & design sprint industry workflow

In the opening week of the UXGO Advanced Course, you are grouped into S, A, and N classes based on their UX expertise, tailored for varying experience levels. You will be in a team of five, led by three UXGO coaches. Each team is assigned dedicated User Experience Research (UXR) and User Experience Design (UXD) coaches, along with a career advisor for comprehensive support.

In the first week, you will have a chance to meet coaches and clients, explore Product Requirements Documents (PRDs), and understand roadmaps set by lead coaches.

The weekly schedule encompasses a 90-minute "All Hands" live lecture, a 60-minute coach-led sync, two 30-minute one-on-one sessions, 60 minutes of self-led team collaboration, and a bi-weekly workshop. Totaling over 50 hours of live courses over ten weeks, participants are primed for the most realistic & best-reviewed industry-driven learning experience in advanced UX methodologies.

Week 2: Understand & Dive Deep

Under the guidance of UXR coaches from top tech companies like Google and Meta, you will learn to dissect specific Product Requirements Documents (PRDs) with your coach and team. Through conducting industry-level qualitative and quantitative studies, this week's focus is on developing industry skill sets such as navigating ambiguous projects, defining successful UX scopes, and persuading stakeholders.

These skills are in high demand, often queried in portfolio presentations and behavioral interviews for both UX Research (UXR) and User Experience Design (UXD) roles. The hands-on experience provides valuable insights into the complexities of project scoping and stakeholder engagement.

Week 3: Define & Emphasize (UXR Review)

The pivotal lesson this week is understanding refining and accentuating data is required before data becomes actionable. You will work with your UXR coach team to contextualize data to persuade stakeholders effectively.

You will delve into the diverse array of data analytical methods employed by UX Researchers (UXRs) in major tech companies. Techniques such as affinity mapping, heat mapping, tree mapping, Excel analysis, and the creation of artifacts like pull quotes, personas, journey maps, and empathy maps will be explored & mastered. The ultimate goal is to equip participants with the skills to craft compelling findings that can convincingly resonate with stakeholders in the industry. As practice, you will present to our UXR director who is the ex-research lead at Google.

Week 4: Constrain & Ideate

Adopting a goal-directed double-diamond approach, this week involves you and your team refining the initial problem statement based on feedback from the client, UXR coach, and UXR director.

Your focus is on understanding the practical application of the double diamond method in the design industry, with an emphasis on balancing workflow and business requirements in real projects for major tech clients. The goal is to master aligning stakeholders on design priorities before diving into product solutions.

Week 5: Design & Critique (PM Review)

After establishing alignment, the responsibility for driving key alignment shifts to you and your Project Managers (PMs) from the Client. This alignment can be documented in a PRFAQ format, Jira ticket format, or using project tracking tools like Notion.

The next step involves reviewing your initial designs with your PM, using a user story format. While user flows, lo-fis, and wireframes are familiar concepts you may have learned in school, our emphasis in this industry-focused context is on understanding why these processes are essential rather than just what they are. This shift from 'what' to 'why' is crucial, as interviewers often focus on the reasoning behind design decisions.

Week 6: Usability Study & Validate

This week continues the emphasis on design justification through data, with a deep dive from our coach team into helping you master industry-leading usability studies and testing methods such as AB tests, gambit tests, user tests, and guerrilla tests.

Our course equips you and your team with a range of testing strategies, addressing a key UX career hiring concern where big tech recruiters and hiring managers claim that over 90% of candidates lack proficiency in this testing and data-driven designs. Mastering these industry practices with your coach is crucial for enhancing your portfolio projects to secure future job opportunities.

Week 7: MVP vs Northstar (PM + Dev review)

As you integrate usability study data into your designs, hands-on collaboration with developers becomes a reality. This phase involves receiving feedback and likely encountering pushback from developers, providing a valuable opportunity to learn about real-world constraints from both front-end and back-end perspectives.

Led by your Coach, you'll navigate these challenges hand in hand, working to split your design scope into Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and Northstar functions to ensure seamless delivery and implementation. The ability to decide on your MVP and prioritize features is a common question in internship interviews at companies like Amazon and Google, making this hands-on experience crucial for future success.

Week 8: Design system, Spec's, & Implementation

This week focuses on a crucial industry skill set you often see in every UX job description—working with design systems.

UXGO invites real FIGMA design system experts to demo and teach you how to implement, audit, collaborate with, and create scalable atomic components within systems like Google Material Design or iOS Human Interface Guidelines. For those new to Figma, you'll learn the 8-point grid, bootstrap designs, and ensure professional-looking files with auto layouts. The week also covers insights into design system implementation from the perspectives of UX engineers and front-end developers.

Week 9: QA & Insist on the highest standards

Our projects not only meet industry standards but often surpass the work of even the most talented UX designers & agencies. This is why clients eagerly line up to work with us at UXGO.

Our coach team will show you the possibilities with special prototyping tools such as After Effects, Rotato, Premiere Pro, and advanced Figma prototyping options. Together, we'll create interactive demos and storytelling experiences that will impress both you and your clients. These aesthetically pleasing and detail-oriented case studies will be highly attractive to future hiring managers, serving as eye-catching elements that help secure your first UX interview.

Week 10: Handoff & measure success (Define Metrics)

After ten intense weeks working alongside your UXGO coaches, clients, and UX team, you'll master documentation and implementation handoff processes akin to a seasoned big tech designer. Your teammates, coaches, and clients are likely to be astounded by your work, and you might even surprise yourself. This project will be interview-ready and portfolio-ready, offering a valuable experience to showcase as an internship, contract work, or part-time opportunity, depending on your preferences (please note that we exclusively collaborate with US clients, streamlining your future background check process).

For those seeking additional support in finalizing the product, UXGO members can continue working with coaches from the advanced class. You'll also receive updates from the client as they implement your designs, ensuring ongoing assistance through UXGO's job-hunting resources post-course.

Similarity : Ten Week Structure, Learning, Outcome, & Price

In your UXGO Apprenticeship, you'll have the opportunity to meet coaches and clients, delve into Product Requirements Documents (PRDs), and grasp the roadmaps outlined by lead coaches just like the regular advanced course. You will also have three coaches—project, industry, and career—who will play crucial roles, with the project coach serving as your manager within the company.

Your weekly schedule includes a 90-minute "All Hands" live lecture and biweekly workshops from your industry coach.

Given the more demanding project deadlines due to direct company involvement, you'll have two 60-minute team meetings each week (an additional one compared to the advanced course) with your manager/project coach.

For one-on-one sessions, there are ten total 30-minute slots that can be used for industry-focused topics unrelated to the project, such as resume, portfolio, or interview assistance. These sessions can be booked with any UXGO coach except your project lead & industry coach.

By the end of the ten weeks, you'll accumulate over 50 hours of live courses, ensuring a realistic and highly-rated industry-driven learning experience in advanced UX methodologies.

Difference: Not offered quarterly, and interviews are required

Unlike the normal ten week advanced course, apprenticeships are limited offerings, opened only when a client meets specific requirements, which might occur once or twice a year. (Or none at all) Unlike the advanced course, there is no team sorting, as apprenticeship sizes range from 2 to 8, with an average of 6 participants. In this smaller setting, each member is expected to take strong individual ownership of their project under the guidance of their manager.

The application and interview window lasts for two weeks, making it essential to become a member first to enhance your chances. Due to extremely limited spots, interviews are mandatory, and only selected individuals can confirm their spot with tuition. The interview is an opportunity to learn more about the project details from your hiring team.

Question: Is apprenticeship simply better than the standard advanced course?

Yes and no—whether an apprenticeship is more suitable depends on your background.

Apprenticeship requires direct teamwork for you day to day, since you are part of the company rather than working with a client, as in the regular advanced course. This means daily interactions with your manager, PMs, and developers. If you're new to UX and find this prospect intimidating, it might not be the best fit.

Additionally, apprenticeship 1:1 sessions are solely for career support, not project assistance. You'll need to invest extra effort in your own time during the apprenticeship to ensure timely project delivery. In essence, while the apprenticeship program may be less structured than the advanced course, it closely mirrors a real job, where you learn from coaches and then apply those learnings directly on the job.

Given that you were part of the company, there's a high likelihood that you may be converted, receive an extended offer, or even secure a formal job offer directly from the company after completing the course.

Question: Can I still write the UXGO apprenticeship as an internship on my resume?

Absolutely, there are no differences here, we make sure projects you work on won't be NDA locked as well so you can showcase them on your portfolio, which is always part of our contract with the client.

Question: what am I being interviewed on by UXGO? Can I apply with limited UX knowledge?

We deeply belive in mutual selction, what we look for is ux potential and mtachablity, even if you are brand new to UX, but you have other relevent skill sets such as in data sicne, bussiness, visual design, you could still be slected. So bring your best self and be brave and apply! Generally we look for a few specfic candites of each type, such as one uxr, one strong visual designer, one strong ux designer, etc.

so if we dont sleect you, it simply means you were not a good fit for the clienet this year, it does not mean we do not think you have potential to be a good ux designer.
